Job Growth in 2016 — What's Stacking Up?

By Dominic Moore, President, Flux

Happy New Year and welcome to Flux! As I write this first blog post, I am humbled to launch our new company and brand along with our team. We are excited to raise a new standard in recruitment services - for both job seekers and companies - nationwide.

Yes, our brand is new, but we've been incubating - for six years - within Portland-based architecture, engineering, and consulting services firm, David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA). Our recruitment team holds deep roots in the professional services arena, including architecture, engineering, IT and technical business services. We have already provided world-class talent to some of the largest and most recognizable projects in the U.S.

Everyone wants to know: “What will 2016 bring in terms of job growth?”

All signs point to positive employment growth in 2016, but perhaps at a slower pace than 2015, according to multiple sources, including Kiplinger. Healthcare and Technology jobs lead the charge, as demand in these areas continue to rise. Engineering positions also continue to climb, although gains in Transportation, Water Resources and Land Development will be offset by a reduction in the Oil, Gas and Mining sectors.  Job growth is especially hot among new graduates in 2016, as companies seek to increase recruitment of this talent. USA Today reports employers plan to hire 11% more new college graduates in the spring of 2016, over the previous year.

What does this market information mean for you?

As a Candidate:

Our careers search tool is easy to navigate and quick to try. Being able to identify the next steps in your career path can be a rewarding but challenging roller coaster. Enter Flux; we are not your typical recruitment firm. We put the human and individual first. Our group can place you with well-known organizations, both public and private -- and then make certain it's the right fit the first time around. And that’s only the beginning of becoming a part of our team; our standards for contract positions include:

  • 24 hours of professional training annually + $250 in continuing education materials and/or conference fees

  • Holiday and Paid Time Off

  • Comprehensive Medical and Dental benefits

  • Access to some of the largest and well-respected companies and projects in the country.

As a Hiring Company:

There used to be just a few choices when it came to increasing your staff. But they weren't always sustainable solutions for every project or bottom line. Flux provides a more complete service management, and broader service, than a typical recruitment firm. And, we insist, every candidate and company must be a good culture/experience match. This ensures the lowest of turnover and longstanding professional relationships.
